John was born in Oxford and graduated from UCL (University of London) with a BA (Hons) in Polish and East European Studies as well as finishing a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. John is currently an independent radio and podcast producer. For over a decade he worked at Poland’s public broadcaster Polskie Radio, where he managed the English Section of Polish Radio External Service. Later in his career he was briefly the Editor-in-Chief and then went on to become Head of Audio at Culture.pl, a website run by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, a publicly-funded institution which promotes Polish culture abroad. In 2020 he founded Free Range Productions, an independent podcast and radio production agency, with clients including the BBC. He also worked in Brussels as a Communications and Strategy Development Manager at the Friends of Europe think-tank. John is also a voiceover artist and he can be heard in the Warsaw transport network announcing stations and stops in English. He is a native speaker of English and Polish and is also a French and Russian speaker. He is currently learning Ukrainian.
