PhD in economic sciences, specialty: international economic relations since 1973. Graduate from Postgraduate Studies in the Faculty of Economics, University of Chicago as well as University of California, Berkeley. 18 years of diplomatic service: economic attaché, Embassy of the Republic of Poland to Washington (1973-1977); Permanent Representative of Poland in the GATT in Geneva (1982-86 and 199201996); Poland’s ambassador by the WTO in Geneva (2002-2003). General Director of the Institute of Foreign Trade (1978-1982); Sub-secretary of State for trade policy in the Ministries of Foreign Trade, Economic Cooperation with Abroad and Ministry of Economy (1986-1992; 1996-1999; 2001-2002). Government coordinator of Poland’s activity in the OECD.
Member of the government team for Negotiation of Poland’s Membership in the EU. Member of the team of economic advisors to the President of the Republic of Poland (2000 – 2002). Advisor to boards of the National Economic Chamber as well as the Confederation of Private Employers ‘Lewiatan’ (1999-2001; 2003-2012). Author, co-author and translator of 11 book publications on economic subjects; author of over 200 articles in economic press. He has been cooperating with the Academy of Finance and Business Vistula as a lecturer since 2008.
