An ever-shifting economy means that one must always be on the lookout for new possibilities. It is always worth acquiring new knowledge, as well as expanding your knowledge of particular areas. This does not only serve to make an employee more competent, but also enables them to develop, and prepares them to effectively solve problems. The insurance market is a perfect example whereby continuous development is of tremendous importance.
This is why Vistula University decided to establish a Certified Insurance Specialist post-graduate programme. Taught under the auspices of the Polish Chamber of Insurance, the programme will enable you to thoroughly familiarise yourself with the inner workings of the market, especially the various types of insurance company activities, how insurance companies are managed, risk management, and the technical aspects of insurance products.
The knowledge and practical skills you will acquire over the course of the two semesters of study, will enable you to discover how the insurance market works, and how to best represent the interests of your clients and claimants.
In order to graduate, students have to pass an examination and write a thesis, in which they tackle a real-world problem relevant to the studies.
For an additional fee, and after passing the examination, students may also receive Professional Certificate 241307 – Insurance specialist.
Important information about the examination:
- The examination is administered by an independent certification institution – the European Federation of Financial Professionals, Poland.
- The exam takes 120 minutes, and consists of 100 single-choice questions.
- 30 to 40 questions are financial mathematics problems; 60 to 70 questions relate to the remaining subjects.
- The questions match the programme’s curriculum and the information from the materials received in class.
- Students taking the test are allowed to use a financial calculator (students are taught how to use it during the course).

Associate Professor, Roman Fulneczek
He is a graduate of the Faculty of National Economy of the Wrocław University of Economics. A Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor at the University of Insurance and Banking in Warsaw, and currently, at Vistula University. A Representative of the Chancellor, Director of Post-graduate Studies and Training at Vistula University.
He specialises in the Polish Category I and II economic insurance market, including financial and insurance services marketing. He is an observer and analyst of the relations between higher education and business. At the present time, , he is responsible for the curriculum and operation of a number post-graduate programmes at Vistula University. He is also a Judge of the Court of Arbitration of the Insurance Ombudsman.
From 1974 to 2005, he has worked at numerous insurance companies, including: President of the Management Board of Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń (1993–1996); President of the Management Board of Towarzystwa Ubezpieczeń Życiowych i Emerytalnych PETRUS S.A. (1997-1998); President of the Management Board of DAEWOO Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeniowe S.A. (1998-1999); ViceChairman of the Board of BIG BANK GDAŃSKI S.A. (1994-1997); and VicePresident of the Polish Re-insurance Association (Polskie Towarzystwo Reasekuracji, 2000–2005). Awarded by the Polish Insurance Association with an Order of Merit for Insurances in 2002.
Lead Specialist at the Insurance and Pension Market Customer Department of the Financial Ombudsman Bureau. From 2002 to 2015, he was employed at the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau. A graduate of Education, as well as post-graduate studies in Insurance Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. In 2011, he passed the National Insurance Broker examination. Piotr is the Secretary of the competition for the best Doctoral, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Post-graduate thesis on Economic and Social Insurance of the Financial Ombudsman, the Foundation for Insurance Education, and Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa. He has also authored and co-authored numerous articles and publications on insurance.
An expert on the practical applications of IT in insurance companies, with 15 years of experience. Dariusz is a graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology, and a post-graduate programme in Insurance at the Academy of Finance in Warsaw. He holds the following certificates: OGC MSP, OGC PRINCE2, TOGAF 8 and ITIL. In his professional career, he has collaborated with insurance companies in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Ukraine. His experience has been utilised at Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń (as Managing Director (IT) of the PZU group, and IT Director of the Group’s IT Centre), as well as a Senior Manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Since 2012, he has been responsible for a number of implementation projects in Western Europe, as a consultant and manager in the Professional Services division of Guidewire Software, a company specialising in IT solutions for the insurance market. He is also a columnist and author, writing for both Polish and foreign publications, a trainer, moderator, speaker, and training programme creator.
Adam is a registered auditor. He is an expert with more than a dozen years of experience in insurance company finances, risk management, and regulatory requirements. In Talanx International AG, he was responsible for the development and supervision over the company’s business activities in Central and Eastern Europe. As a partner at Ernst & Young, he managed multiple projects for Polish and regional insurance companies, including being a key registered auditor, assessing the financial statements of the largest insurance companies in Poland. He was also a member of Ernst & Young’s Working Group for International Standards in Financial Reporting for insurance companies, and the Global Team for Implementing Solvency II. In addition, he has organised numerous conferences and training sessions.
An affiliate of PZU SA since 1997, she is currently Claims Adjustment Director, and is predominantly responsible for foreign claims adjustment, collaborating with Polish and foreign insurance market institutions, as well as adjusting other claims within the company.
Member of the Management Board, and Operations Director at Pramerica Życie TUiR S.A., Robert is responsible for customer service and IT. He has international experience in creating operations’ strategies, managing customer service, as well as optimising and building effective operations’ processes. Before joining Pramerica, he worked for 10 years at Genworth Financial. Originally responsible for the creation of the company’s operations department in Poland, he worked for 7 years as Operations Director for Eastern Europe. Since 2012, he has managed a European business customer operations service team, which he had to build from scratch. Before joining Genworth Financial, he worked at TU Inter-Życie Polska S.A., TUiR Allianz-Życie Polska S.A., and Infovide-Matrix, amongst others. He is a graduate of Financial and Insurance Mathematics at the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics of the Warsaw University of Technology. He also studied Actuarial Mathematics at the University of Warsaw. In addition, he completed an Executive MBA programme offered by the Business School of the Warsaw University of Technology.
An independent expert, currently owner of TG – Doradztwo i Zarządzanie, as well as a manager with more than 30 years of experience, she has 20 years of experience working in high positions in financial institutions: namely, banks and insurance companies. From 1998 to 2009, she worked as a manager in life and property insurance companies, supervising virtually all areas of company activity. She also has experience collaborating with the international owners of the companies she managed (particularly, Korea, United States, Great Britain, and Germany). She has successfully led projects, such as: organising from the ground up new insurance companies, or mergers of life insurance companies. In 2009, Teresa re-activated TG – Doradztwo I Zarządzanie, her company offering a vast array of advisory services for insurance companies, specialising in developing and implementing Solvency II strategies, and especially, in organising training sessions on risk management and the requirements of Solvency II. She is also a prolific author of press articles.
An independent expert, as well as a re-insurance and insurance specialist. He was President of the Management Board of Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń (1991–1993) and organised the first congress of the Polish Re-insurance Association (1996–2005). Since 1992, he has been a lecturer at the University of Insurance and Banking, and is currently based at Vistula University, teaching re-insurance and management. He is a prolific author of numerous articles on insurance and re-insurance. Krzysztof was also a co-founder and the first President of one of the first Polish brokerage companies, which still exist. He was awarded by the Polish Insurance Association with an Order of Merit for Insurances in 1998.
An expert on product development – life insurance, leading projects, and modelling operational processes. Presently, she is Product Manager at PKO Życie Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń S.A. Previously, she worked at TUnŻ WARTA SA, TU Inter Polska Życie, and Gerling Życie. She has more than 15 years of experience working in the insurance market, in companies dealing in sales support and product offering development. Anna is a graduate of Finances and Banking at the Warsaw School of Economics.
A Master of Economics, he graduated from the Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw, taking post-graduate studies in Insurance at the Warsaw School of Economics, as well as the Insurance Specialist Programme at Vistula University. Andrzej is an insurance professional, who has been working in the industry since 1994. He specialises in creating and selling insurance products, and is an expert on matters related to consumers and consumer protection on the financial market. Nowadays, he works at the Polish Chamber of Insurance as Secretary of the Council on Best Practices. From 2007 to 2010, he was Director of the Customer Protection Department of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. Previously employed in the Generali Group, PZU Group, and BTUiR Heros Life S.A., he also actively participates in various forums as part of the Insurance Europe – Distribution Task Force.
Jacek is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. An insurance professional, he has more than 11 years of experience of working in financial insurance departments (as a manager), and has participated in training programmes and internships abroad. Since 2004, he has worked as a trainer and adviser, operating his own company, Tirador – Warsztaty Pomysłów.
A legal adviser and mediator, Ewa specialises in economic and commercial law. She also deals in insurance, construction, and real estate law. She is a long-time expert of the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau. In addition, she is an editor at “Rozprawy Ubezpieczeniowe”, as well as an expert of the Centre for Research, Studies, and Legislation of the National Chamber of Legal Advisers.
Małgorzata Maliszewska, PhD
Małgorzata is an adjunct at Vistula University, and a Judge of the Court of Arbitration of the Insurance Ombudsman. She is a member of the Curriculum Council of Insurance Forum for World Leaders in Banking and Insurance. In addition, she is a member of the Awards Committee of the Polish Chamber of Insurance for the best journalistic article on insurance.
Beata is an experienced legal adviser, specialising in insurance. From 1990 to 2000, she worked for the Ministry of Finance and was ViceDirector of both the Insurance and the Financial Institution Departments.
Professor Marian Noga
Professor Noga is currently Head of the Institute of Business Collaboration of WSB Wrocław. In his career, he was Rector of the Wrocław University of Economics (1999-2005), Senator of the Republic of Poland (2000–2004), and a member of the Monetary Policy Council
(2004–2010). He has authored and co-authored 23 books, 143 articles (including 20 in foreign languages), some of them in journals from the ISI Master Journal List, or published by Oxford UK. He deals in monetary policy, macro-economics, economic growth, and the relations between the economy and culture.
She is Director of the Inspection Department of the Bureau of the InspectorGeneral for the Protection of Personal Data, a legal adviser, and a long-time teacher of post-graduate programmes in personal and classified data protection at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Kozminski University in Warsaw, and the University of Łódź. She is also an author of numerous publications on personal data protection, and an organiser of many training sessions on the security of processed data.
Piotr Pisarewicz, PhD
Graduating from the University of Gdańsk, with a doctorate in Economics, he has been a bank and insurance sector employee since 1994, working in positions of management, such as: Vice- President of the Management Board of PKO Bankowy, and Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne S.A.; DeputyDirector of Gdańsk Banking Academy at the Institute for Market Economics; and the Founder of Tangram CREE, an advisory and training school. At the present time, , he is an adjunct at the Department of Banking of the Faculty of Management of the University of Gdańsk. He is notably an author of numerous analyses, research, and publications on financial markets and investments, as well as the insurance and pension sectors.
Jerzy Podlewski, PhD
Jerzy is an expert on enterprise risk management and a doctor of economics, VicePresident of POLRISK, member of FERMA (Federation of European Risk Management), as well as being a certified PRINCE2™ project manager. He teaches both risk and finance management to students of English MBA, full-time and post-graduate studies.
Adam H. Pustelnik, PhD
Adam is a Doctor of Economics and a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics. He has been working in the insurance market since 1992. He acquired professional experience, whilst working at a Silesian company called Feniks, and then working for 6 years as Regional Director at Gerling Polska. In 2001, he moved to Warsaw, where he worked for Commercial Union Polska (AVIVA), where he built ‘from the ground up’ the company’s individual insurance department, as its director. He then assumed the position of Board Member at AIG Polska, and was responsible for personal insurance products.
Professor Tadeusz Szumlicz
An academic from the Warsaw School of Economics, he established, in 1995, and became the first Department Head of the Social Insurance Department at the Collegium of Socio-Economics of the Warsaw School of Economics. He later became Head of the Department of Health Insurance at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Łódź. A Member of the Scientific Committee on Labour and Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, he wasawarded the title of “Insurance Man of the Year 2005”. Author of numerous books, articles, and expert opinions, on social policy and insurance.
ExPresident of the Management Board at Link 4 TU S.A., Tomasz graduated from the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machine Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, as well as the University of Insurance and Banking. He also completed the Advanced Management Programme at IESE Business School, University of Navarra, and post-graduate studies in road traffic safety at the Military University of Technology, in economic insurance at Kraków University of Economics, and in Personnel Management, at the University of Warsaw. He has been working in the insurance industry since 1996. Tomasz originally dealt in internal control and preventing insurance crime. From 2006 to 2007, he acted in the capacity of Director of PZU’s Claim Adjustment Department. From 2007 to 2011, as a Member of the Management Board of PZU Ukraine, he supervised claims adjustment, product management, and risk assessment. From 2011 to 2016, he was a Member of the Management Board of PZU S.A. and PZU Życie S.A., and was responsible for claim adjustment and assistance.
Witold Walkowiak, PhD
VicePresident of TUiR Warsa S.A., TUnŻ Warta S.A., and HDI Gerling S.A., he is a Doctor of Economics, and a veteran of the Polish banking and insurance sectors. Witold was a board member of PZU S.A., Chairman of the Economic-Financial Commission, and VicePresident of the Polish Chamber of Insurance. He has international professional experience as Financial Director of the European Division of Eureko B.V. (The Netherlands), as well as a member of the Council of the Interamerican (Greece) ) and First Friends (Ireland) Audit Committees, serving as Director and Chair, respectively. , Presently, he is VicePresident of TUiR Warsa S.A., TUnŻ Warta S.A., and HDI Gerling S.A.
Since 2000, he has been President of the Management Board of the Polish Motor Insurers’ Bureau, however, from 2010 to 2015, he was, notably, the Bureau Council President of the Green Card system, based in Brussels, directing National Bureaux operating in 48 insurance markets, compensatory institutions, guaranteed funds, and information centres, representing all the insurance markets of the European Economic Area.
Director of the Department of Insurance and Pension Inspection of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF). She has more than 16 years of experience, working in insurance supervision.
From 2009 to 2011, she worked at the UKNF as Managing Director for the insurance and pensions sector, and was predominantly responsible, for implementing supervision, based on risk assessment in the supervised entities. She was also responsible for BION supervisory assessment, as well as for preparing the UKNF and the insurance sector for the implementation of the Solvency II system, including the departments supervising the insurance sector in EIOPA working groups.
Jacek Skwierczyński, PhD
Director of the Department of Risk Management in Open Life Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Życie, he has more than 20 years of experience, working in the insurance sector. He is an actuary (No 0010 on the UKNF list), as well as a member and President of the Polish Association of Actuaries. He has worked as an actuary at life and property insurance companies, including 3 newly-founded companies. He worked as an actuary in audit (collaborated with BDO Polska), and valuated actuarial reserves for insurance companies. He has worked both in Poland and abroad. From 2005 to 2007, he provided actuarial services to PZU Ukraine and PZU Ukraine Life, and from 2007 to 2008, he was Vice- President of Russian Standard Insurance (Russia). He is, at present, responsible for risk management and Solvency II implementation at an insurance company. Jacek has a PhD in mathematics.
Mateusz is a graduate of Finances and Accounting at Vistula University, as well as the Insurance Specialist programme. He has also studied Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Since 2011, he has worked at PZU S.A., specialising in property and motor vehicle insurance, available on the Polish insurance market. Due to the nature of his work, he also analyses distribution channels on the Polish insurance markets. In 2014, he worked at the Recourse Department of the Insurance Guarantee Fund in Warsaw. He expands his knowledge, by participating in numerous financial and insurance conferences.

Vistula University post-graduate admissions are conducted on a ‘first-come, first-served basis’. Post-graduate candidates must submit the following documents:

The entire cost of tuition is: PLN 6,600
The tuition can be paid in a single instalment, or two instalments, one for each semester:
- PLN 3,300 – 1st instalment to be paid before the start of the academic year.
- PLN 3,300 – 2nd instalment to be paid before the start of the 2nd semester.
We offer a 10% discount for students who pay in a single instalment.
An advance on the tuition fee of PLN 200 must be paid before the 30th of September, 2017.
