  • DESCRIPTION OF THE STUDIES

    In the times of globalization, cultural awareness and foreign language skills – especially the knowledge of English – are among the key requisites in the job market. If you already have some experience and see yourself in the future working in international organizations, or, perhaps, plan to become a teacher of foreign languages, our English Studies at Master degree level are made for you!

    If you are looking for studies that would help you to perfect your English, acquire a wide range of expert skills and competences in methodology of teaching or translation, English Studies Master’s Degree is the program for you. Here you will be able to not only put the finishing touches on your English, but also learn another language of your choice, at least at B1 level and gain detailed knowledge about Anglophone cultures. You will be able to test your knowledge in practice through an internship in a language school or international corporation. Knowledge and experience will allow you to easily navigating the job market after completing your studies.

    REQUIREMENTS

    If you want to apply for the English Studies Master’s program, you must meet at least one of the following requirements:

    • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology.
    • Be a holder of a different Bachelor’s degree (in which case, you might have to make up for curriculum differences) and submit an English language certificate (C1 level).

    A sufficient number of candidates for the studies is required to activate enrollment.

    Practical knowledge of English, as well as knowledge of international business and marketing – this is what you will gain by studying English Philology for Master’s degree at Vistula University.

    English Studies at our University will let you develop your skills and prepare you to work in your chosen profession – both in Poland and abroad. Here you will acquire comprehensive knowledge becoming a competent professional in the field of English   Philology.

    INTERNSHIP

    Vistula University values practicality, therefore our two-year program includes a total of three months of internship. Out of this number, the total of sixty hours will be conducted as workshops in the classroom, with students working on projects commissioned by companies collaborating with our University. You can get an invaluable practical experience through internship program conducted within the publishing industry, at the translation agencies and international institutions or at the language schools. Such preparation will help you to easily find the job you desire after completing your studies.

    EXPERTISE

    Our lecturers understand the importance of the practical aspect – most of our classes aim at improving your language skills. Translation workshops (in the business sphere, specialist texts, or literary works) are conducted for those who plan to work in the field of translation. The Practical English curriculum is complemented by courses on culture and history of the Anglophone countries. Each year, classes are tailored anew to students’ particular needs and interests.

    dr hab. Maria Koszla-Szymańska

    Autorka książek, polskich i zagranicznych artykułów dotyczących m.in aspektów kulturowych w nauczaniu języka hiszpańskiego. Od 1996 r. bierze udział w corocznych kongresach organizowanych w ośrodkach uniwersyteckich w całej Hiszpani. Laureatka pięciu nagród jubileuszowych oraz Złotego Medalu za Długoletnią Służbę przyznanych przez Rektora Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.

    Ph. D. Summa Cum Laude in Geography and History, UNED (Madrid, Spain) Doctorate Extraordinary Award (1996-7). Research interests: History of the Book, Culture and Literature , Maritime History an underwater archaeology
    Military History: Early Modern and Modern period. Taught subjects: History of Spanish Literature (Medieval and Early Modern), Culture and Civilization of Latin America, Spanish.

    prof. dr hab. Andrzej Weseliński

    Autor licznych prac naukowych z zakresu literatury i kultury brytyjskiej i amerykańskiej opublikowanych w kraju i za granicą. Prowadzi wykłady m.in w University of Notre Dame czy w University College London. Uczestnik międzynarodowych programów naukowych. Założyciel pisma naukowego ANGLICA. Współautor kilkudziesięciu programów edukacyjnych emitowanych przez Telewizję Polską i Polskie Radio. Otrzymał nagrodę Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego za osiągnięcia naukowe. Laureat konkursu BBC European Service, odznaczony Medalem Komisji Edukacji Narodowej oraz Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi.

    Specjalistka w dziedzinie filologii hiszpańskiej i romańskiej. Przez wiele lat pełniła funkcje m.in. kierownika działu promocji i rzecznika prasowego Muzeum Historii Polski w Warszawie oraz Instytutu Cervantesa w Warszawie i Krakowie. Była również kierownikiem ds. projektów w Instytucie Adama Mickiewicza w Warszawie. Organizowała międzynarodowe projekty kulturalne i medialne, m.in. w ramach Polskiej Prezydencji w UE oraz dwa największe projekty promocji kultury polskiej zagranicą: POLSKA! YEAR (Rok Polski w Wlk. Brytanii, 2009-2010) i Rok Polski w Hiszpanii (2002 – 2003). Tłumaczka literatury i esejów oraz tłumaczka przysięgła j. hiszpańskiego i j. francuskiego.
